What draws you to the darkness?
Horror is a genre that boldly confronts and picks apart all the abject things we’d much rather ignore: death, violence, the unknown. I think in this way it paradoxically centers hope: there’s a limitless to horror. Anything can be scary (see: tires, clowns, cars, donuts, corn and much much more) but there’s something very brave about looking at what can’t be explained and imposing your own imagination onto it! Fear is one of our oldest storytelling devices for a reason.
Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.
It may be a cliche answer but I would make it to the end of a horror movie because at the first red flag, I’m going home. My survival instinct is stronger than the allure of a mysterious Latin book, the temptation of a cold, dark corridor, and the curiosity of an unknown number.
What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?
I would face one of the scariest things we face every day: debt. I’d also love to travel some places that have great spooky folklore: Ireland, Appalachia, the Philippines, Thailand, for example. Or New Zealand simply because it’s New Zealand.
