Tarryn Serio

Because horror is in my blood. It’s the thing that got me through the worst time in my life and still helps me understand myself and others.

What draws you to the darkness?

It’s comforting. I can see parts of myself in characters like Jason Voorhees, Ashley Williams and Michael Myers. I’m also drawn to the artistry of it in all mediums and appreciate the work that goes into crafting a truly terrifying horror story. I love picking apart a piece of work for days on end, discovering new details, and discussing it with my wife and friends. Whenever I meet new people, it’s horror that draws us together and gives us a base to build our friendship on.

Tell us why you would make it to the end of a horror movie.

I’m not the brightest and I’m not always graceful, but what I lack in that, I make up for in determination. I would make it to the end of a horror movie because I’m the final girl that refuses to give up. The killer would never catch me because he wouldn’t be able to hold me. When threatened, I turn feral. They might as well be trying to murder a greased up raccoon with an anxiety problem.

What would you do with the unlucky $13,000?

I would invest in my child’s future and finally be able to buy a home. She’s almost four now and I want to get her in what will be her childhood home by the time she’s five. She loves Evil Dead, Skeletons and Halloween and is one weird little gremlin that I wouldn’t trade for anything. If we had enough left over, we would visit Japan. That’s been my wife and I’s lifelong dream.
